Fenway Park Picnic to Benefit Fight For Diabetes Cure
Fundraising event to include dinner on field with Red Sox players, sports auctions
The Red Sox Players' Wives will host the first-ever Picnic in the Park dinner and sports auction June 29 at Fenway Park. The event will benefit the American Diabetes Association and Red Sox Foundation.
Eight hundred tickets are on sale for the Picnic, which will offer participants the chance to enjoy a picnic on the field with Red Sox players and their wives. Players will be available for autographs and photos at designated times during the event. Ticket info is available at www.diabetes.org/redsox or 1-888-DIABETES.
Participants also will have the opportunity to bid on autographed memorabilia during silent and live auctions. One-of-a-kind auction pieces will include denim jackets each having original hand-painted artwork designed and signed by a different Red Sox player and hats and balls signed by players. Also on the auction list will be classics such as a Willie Mays autographed baseball and a one-of-a-kind Ted Williams watercolor by Elaine Felos Ostraender. Visit www.diabetes.org/redsox for auction updates.
Tickets are $250 for general admission and $500 for VIP admission. People who purchase VIP tickets will be able to attend a reception in the .406 Club with Red Sox players, their wives and members of the front office before the Picnic begins. To order tickets, call 888-DIABETES x3444 or e-mail redsoxwives@diabetes.org.
Proceeds from the event will support the American Diabetes Association's mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Seventeen million people in the United States, 6.2 percent of the population, have diabetes.
